Principal’s Back to School Welcome

Dear Mt. View Community,

I want to officially welcome you to the 2019-2020 school year! Summer is coming to an end and I cannot wait for students to return to school this fall. I am energized for this school year and honored to have the opportunity to work with enthusiastic children, talented staff members, and involved parents. Our dedicated staff have been working hard to ensure a strong start of school for all of our students.

We had a fantastic Step-Up Day in June where students met their teachers for this coming school year. We also celebrated the end of the school year and posted class lists at our Block Party where many families connected with their child’s 2019-2020 school year teacher. Because we have already had these great opportunities to connect, we will not host an early meet and greet this school year. Class lists will be re-posted in the lobby windows this Friday, August 30.

There will be several opportunities for you to reconnect with longtime friends and meet new people at upcoming events. Please check out ‘Dates to Remember’ below. I look forward to meeting you at our upcoming Parent Coffee and Curriculum Night!

2019-20 Daily School Start Time Change

School start time is 8:05 am and end time is 2:30 pm. School is released at 1:30pm on Fridays. See the daily schedule below.

School Arrival and Attendance

Our school day begins at 8:05 am every day. Please be sure to have your child/children here on time. Students who are consistently tardy are at a clear disadvantage, and when they are late they usually arrive feeling frantic and unprepared. All students who arrive after 8:05am must sign-in at the office. If your child is sick please report the absence by 8:20am by calling the office at (541) 766-4761.  If you drop your child off by car, please pull into the drop-off loop and remember to have your child exit the car on the school side. It is important that you not park in the loading zone during marked hoursbefore and after school as it prevents us from moving the line of cars along.Thank you for helping us with these procedures.

Early AM Drop Off and Bus Transportation

Students arriving early have the opportunity to join in the library for early care beginning at 7:30am. There is no cost for this program. If your student(s) arrive between 7:45am and 7:55am, the gym, library and cafeteria are open and supervised. Students may have breakfast in the cafeteria beginning at 7:30am. Before school, K-2 students are supervised in the gym, 3-4 students are supervised in the cafeteria, and 5thgrade students are supervised in the library.

Please note that if your plan includes your child taking the bus, you must register online at the Student Transportation page. Questions about school transportation can be directed to our new bus company, Student Transportation of America (STA) at 541-275- 1079.

Meal Accounts

Students may purchase breakfast and/or lunch. Lunch costs $2.75 per meal. Breakfast costs $1.75 per meal. Purchasing a milk by itself costs 60 cents. Families can save more the $700 per student per year if students qualify for free or reduced price meals, including breakfast and lunch.

Applications are available online at Food and Nutrition Services page or can be picked up in the school office throughout the year. A new application must be completed each school year.

Payment can be made in two ways to your child’s meal account. You can go online to https://family.titank12.com/and deposit funds into your child’s account (you may call the school and get your child’s identification number). Your other choice is to bring money in an envelope with the student’s name on it to the school office. All money received will be credited to your student’s meal account.

Personal Belongings and School Supplies

In order to reduce the back-to-school financial burden for families, all general classroom supplies (e.g. pencils, glue, crayons) have been funded by our district and purchased in bulk. If you are interested in donating items to the school, please drop them off in the office. Students are encouraged to bring personal belongings (backpack, lunchbox, coat, etc.). Please be sure to label personal belongings such as jackets, sweaters, lunchboxes, and backpacks! Please contact the office if confidential assistance with personal student supplies is needed or if you have any questions.

Instructional Programs

Our programs are structured to ensure that all our kids continue to receive a well-rounded and challenging education. Our standards and expectations remain high! As always, our number one goal is providing our students with a quality educational experience in a safe, caring and nurturing environment.  All of our instructors are fully credentialed, and collaborative professional development opportunities are built into our yearly schedule. Our curricular program is aligned with Common Core State Standards.

School Involvement

It is important that teachers and parents work together in making a child’s school year a happy and successful one. We hope that you will be able to spend some time during the school year to attend school functions, help in the classroom, work in the volunteer center or help at home. Please discuss with your child’s teacher ways that will work within your schedule. Our volunteer application and background check are available on our district website.

MT. VIEW PTA

We strongly encourage all of our families to attend monthly PTA meetings. Meeting times are advertised and held in the Mt. View Library. Free child care is provided during the meetings.
