Text Alert Opt-In Coming Next Week

Our district’s goal is to inform parents and guardians of safety alerts, school events, and general school information in a consistent and timely way.

Starting this fall, all schools in the Corvallis School District will use SchoolMessenger for parent/guardian outreach, emergency broadcasts, and other important communications.

Next week, parents and guardians will have the opportunity to OPT-IN to receive school safety messages and absence notifications via SMS (text). School websites and email news will continue to provide general school news and announcements.

Watch for a reminder email on September 30 about the OPT-IN notification that will be sent that day to all parent and guardian cell phone numbers.

Boundary Review Task Force Application Available October 1

Parents and guardians are invited to apply to become a member of the Boundary Review Task Force.

This committee will meet nearly weekly from early December until February 2020.

  • The task force will be made up of building principals and up to 20 parent/guardian representatives from all neighborhood boundary areas.

The task force assessment and analysis will:

  • Review, question and discuss one or more draft (“Springboard”) boundary adjustment scenarios prepared by district staff and consultants to identify implementation/policy issues, major flaws, unforeseen consequences and implications for the 2018 bond program.
  • Review and consider community input from open house events. Open house events will take place in January and February.
  • Come to a consensus as a Task Force on a preferred boundary adjustment scenario.

All meetings will be open to the public to observe. Written input from the public may be submitted to the task force. The task force will complete their work by April 2020.

Applications are available at the link below or a paper copy is available in all school offices.
