Mt. View Family Nights
The first Mountain View Family Night is February 26! This is the first of three family education evenings hosted by Mt. View.
5:40 pm: Dinner
- Pizza, vegetable trays, and juice will be available
6:30 pm: Mindfulness and Self-Regulation session
- Teach yourself and your children how to relax in our chaotic world. Learn how to let go of what you can’t control and focus on what you can. Physical Therapist, Mindi Romer, will share mindfulness and self-regulation strategies with parents while students enjoy an hour of yoga and fun with music teacher, Mrs. Beyer.
Bus transportation is available from Cheldelin and Adair. Departure times are as follows:
- Cheldelin Middle School – 5:30 pm
- Corner of William Carr & Laurel – 5:20 pm
- Bus Shelter at Barberry – 5:30 pm
Mark your calendars for the next Mt. View Family Nights! Mental Health First Aid is March 19 and Social Emotional Learning is April 16. We look forward to seeing you!
Kids Heart Challenge
The Kids Heart Challenge is back with our annual jump rope fundraiser! This is a fun and exciting event where your student learns about their heart while helping others and raising money for the American Heart Association. Last year, our school raised over $2,500 towards helping people with heart complications and we hope to try and beat that number this year! Students will continue to earn gifts for their donations and can receive them from Mr. Hastings. Packets will be sent home with more information on how to participate in the event.
Transition to Middle School
There will be an informational session on February 20 from 5-6 pm at Cheldelin Middle School on how to best support your student as they navigate the transition from elementary to middle school. The session is open to all families but particularly those whose students have an IEP or 504.
Safety & Health Information
It’s the time of year when we start seeing an increase in cases of head lice. It is important to be aware of Corvallis School District policies related to head lice management. If you discover your child has head lice, please let the office know and treat them before they return to school. For more information about dealing with head lice, please visit the district’s website here.
Immunization Exclusion Day
On Wednesday, February 20, children who are not up to date on statewide required vaccinations or do not have a valid exemption on file will be excluded from attending school. Letters were sent home in December to families whose student’s records indicate their immunizations are not up to date. If you have any questions or need help accessing services, please contact the main office.
Any medication (including cough drops) that is necessary for your child during the school day must be brought to and from school by the parent/guardian. All medication must have a current Permission to Administer Medication form on file and be dispensed by trained office personnel. Chapstick may be kept in your child’s backpack to help with dry, chapped lips.
Emergency & School Closure Information
When we have a two hour delay, buses will run 2 hours later than the AM scheduled time. If your child won’t be attending school due to the weather (or any other reason), please call to report the absence on our attendance line: 541-766-4761. For more information regarding emergencies and closures, please refer to the links below.
