Weekly News for Mt. View Families – June 8, 2020

“Just don’t give up trying to do what you really want to do.  Where there is love and inspiration, I don’t think you can go wrong.” -Ella Fitzgerald

Dear Mountain View Families,

As the end of the year quickly approaches, teachers have considered how to provide meaningful closure for students.   As we focus on care, connection, and closure, classroom schedules may look different in these last two weeks.  Teachers will communicate their plans with you.  You can also expect to hear from your child’s teacher or another Mountain View staff member in these final weeks to check in one more time before the end of the year.  We look forward to connecting with you!

Please read below for additional updates.

Take care,

Tracey Fischer

Last Day of School June 19, 2020

Our school year calendar includes a number of possible make up days in the event that students miss instructional days due to weather or other emergencies. Corvallis students missed five days of school (March 16-20) leading up to Spring Break as we followed Governor Kate Brown’s mandated school closure order.

  • In order to make up the five instructional days, students will continue with Distance Learning and we will utilize the designated school make up days from June 15-19.
  • June 19 will be the last day of the 2019-20 school year.

Car Parades to Celebrate CSD High School Graduates

Although graduation ceremonies are not possible for graduating high school seniors this year, the Corvallis School District is working closely with the Corvallis Police Department in facilitating car parades for our high school graduates. The parade will travel at low speeds to facilitate engagement from bystanders along the route as well as ensure safety. The graduation car parades will be held as follows:

College Hill parade, Thursday, June 4, starts at 6:00 pm

Corvallis High School parade, Saturday, June 6, starts at 12:00 noon (Broadcast on KLOO 1340AM)

Crescent Valley High School parade, Saturday, June 6, starts at 4:00 pm (Broadcast on KFIR 720AM)

We encourage family, friends, and our Corvallis community to cheer on these graduates to celebrate their accomplishments.  Each route has several opportunities for well-wishers to safely stand on sidewalks to cheer as the parade passes by.  Please make sure to follow the appropriate state guidelines regarding health safety at the time of the parades, such as staying home if you are sick and maintaining appropriate physical distancing.

Parade routes are posted on the district website https://www.csd509j.net/wp-content/uploads/HS-Car-Parade-routes.pdf

Congratulations graduates!
